Captivating Dance by Nona also known as CDBN provides students the opportunity to explore and progress in many styles of dance. We offer four different competition teams.  Please read them carefully.

The CDBN “COMPANY” Competition Team

This is an elite dance competition team that focuses on bringing each dancer to their fullest potential.  This team is designed for dancers who are serious about dance and their technique.  Discipline, commitment and dedication from student, parent and teacher are shared through the passion of dance and strive for excellence. Junior company dancers train about 5 hours a week. Teen company dancers train about 7 hours a week.  CDBN limits the amount of students on each team to provide quality training. This team will compete in competitions (~4) and attend dance conventions (~2). The schedule is rigorous and focuses on making each dancer technically sound in all styles of dance. Many company dancers have received full ride scholarships to four year universities and have gone on to become professional dancers, teachers and choreographers.  This elite team provides dancers the tools to bring their technique and performance to the next level. Every company dancers will be offered a solo.

“Hip Hop” Competition Team

This is a hip hop dance competition team that focuses on a specific style of dance and only competes in one style.  This team is designed for dancers who are serious about dance and their style.  Discipline, commitment and dedication from student, parent and teacher are shared through the passion of dance and strive for excellence.  Hip Hop Team will train once a week for 2 hours and have extra rehearsals leading up to a competition.  This team will compete in competitions (~4) and attend a dance conventions.

“Mini Stars & Next Stars” Competition Team

This is a introduction to a dance competition team.  This team has been created to give students the ability to learn teamwork, discipline and commitment.  Mini Stars team will practice once a week for 90 minutes, Next Stars Juniors and Teens will practice twice a week for 2.5 hours.  Stars team will learn 2 group dances and attend four competitions for the year. 

• Mini Stars Team | ages 5-8 | 2 hours a week | 0-2 year dance experience | $226 monthly tuition |Tentative schedule Tuesdays 4:30-5:30 Fridays 4:30-5:30
• Next Stars Juniors| ages 8-11 | 3 hours a week | 0-4 year dance experience | $256 monthly tuition |Tentative schedule Tuesdays 4:30-5:30 & Thursdays 5:30-7:30
• Next Stars Teen | ages 11+ |3 hours a week | 0-4 year dance experience | $256 monthly tuition |Tentative schedule Tuesdays 5:30-6:30 & Wednesday 6pm-8:30

Our auditions will be held on May 21st, however if you are a current team member and are returning you do not need to audition unless you are interested in changing teams.  If you are a current recreational class dancer, then you will attend the audition on May 21st.  There is an audition fee of $50.

How to prepare: The main thing we encourage our dancers to strive for is stronger ballet technique for example straight knees, pointed toes, flexibility and proper placement.  Next to that is confidence in their performance in class which means, eyes up, be sharp and have big movements.
