MISSION STATEMENT

Our mission at Kokokahi Gym Team Association, Inc. (KGT) is to develop the athlete’s physical strength, and mind to enhance their self-confidence, self-esteem, discipline, and personal character through the sport of gymnastics.  ​Kokokahi prides itself in creating a safe environment to help shape our gymnast(s) into a physically, mentally, and socially strong individual by maintaining an environment and staff that is our Koko ‘Ohana.  Our goal is to make the sport of gymnastics a fun, safe, and positive activity for all students and to train our athletes in a positive and challenging environment. Coached by experienced and professional individuals passionate about gymnastics. 

Physical Mission
Our program is designed to develop body awareness, discipline, and the technical skills required for every level of competition.

Mental Mission
​Gymnastics is as much of a physical sport as it is a mental sport. Our program is designed to develop athlete’s mental toughness as it relates to gymnastics, but also utilize these skills in their lives outside of the gym.

OUR STORY

Kokokahi Gymnastics Team (KGT) is a non-profit gym. KGT is Hawaii's oldest private gymnastics school, founded in 1969.  Originally, classes were part of the Kokokahi YWCA, however due to increased enrollment and a commitment to the sport of gymnastics, the KGT Association was formed by parents in 1971. 

KGT became incorporated in 1978 as a non-profit organization.  In 1983, KGT moved to its present facility to expand its programs.

Today we offer a wide range of classes including recreational classes for boys and girls ages 12 months and up, tumbling, back handspring, and just added a movement class for kids with special needs.  Kokokahi's competitive teams compete in JO Levels 3-10 and Xcel Silver - Xcel Diamond.

In addition to classes we also periodically hold clinics with our team girls, camps during school breaks, and rent out the gym for birthday parties.
